You know his name. You trust his work. Now David Myers brings you a textbook that speaks to all students, regardless of their background or level of preparedness. Known as Myers “no assumptions” text, this book strives to make the vocabulary, examples, and presentations accessible to all students. This briefer, more colorful, visually stirring text offers rich presentations of psychology’s core concepts and research—examined through the everyday lives of diverse people. And like all David Myers books, the storyteller’s voice is distinctive. And for this edition of Psychology in Everyday Life, Dr. Myers introduces something completely new, never-before found in a Myers text: a coauthor!
Features
A distinct look
The three-column design with appealing visual elements is remnant of popular magazines. This informal format is unassuming and inviting. It encourages students to read and relate by presenting material in manageable chunks.
A distinct approach
As David Myers prepared for this second edition, he analyzed each paragraph to make insure that no assumptions are made about student vocabulary, and that every explanation is as straight-forward as possible. He also includes additional inquiry-based study aids:
• Application Questions
• “The Big Picture” Questions
• “In Your Everyday Life” Questions
A distinct package
Light in the backpack, but heavy on the support. This brief book allows you greater flexibility with your course. And it is accompanied by an innovative media-supplements package of the same scope as the packages offered with all of David Myers’ textbooks.
New to This Edition
Introducing co-author Nathan DeWall
Dr. Myers personally selected Dr. Nathan DeWall from the University of Kentucky to join him for this edition. Dr. DeWalls enthusiasm for teaching and writing about psychological science makes him uniquely suited to join the world’s bestselling psychology textbook author. DeWall is an accomplished educator, a prolific researcher, and a creative innovator in the use of technology and social media to teach psychology. In addition to collaborating on Myers textbooks, Dave and Nathan are also co-authoring a new teaching column for the APAs Observer magazine.
Updates on DSM-5
Throughout this third edition, Myers and DeWall address the DSM-5 changes, including all pf the most current terms and clear, objective reporting on related controversies.
Hundreds of New Citations
As with any Myers revision, this edition benefits from the widely-read authors’ communications with students and colleagues, to include the most relevant new findings available.
Retrieve and Remember
This research-based testing system appears throughout each chapter, giving students valuable, formative self-testing opportunities at key points in the reading.
"This introductory text is amazing with great stories and examples. Myers does it again!"
